Half Dimes (1794 - 1873)

Half dimes, authorized by the Act of April 2, 1792, were not coined until February of 1795, though they were dated 1794. Both half dimes and dimes are abundant in varieties, especially in the earlier dates. Eventually, the nickel replaced the half dime as the standard United States' five cent piece.
