2004
Tonkinese
Kittens
The year 2004 sees the issue of a
further beautiful coin, this time depicting a pair of delightful Tonkinese
kittens enthralled by a butterfly.
The Tonkinese, affectionately
known as “Tonks”, is a relatively new breed and is the result of crossing
Siamese and Burmese and said to combine the best qualities of each. The
breed are warm, loving and highly intelligent and make wonderful
companions for their human owners. The Tonkinese have an incredible
memory and senses that are akin to radar. There are five varieties of
this breed with different colours and markings. The fur is short, soft
and shiny and their bodies slender with long legs.

2005
Himalayan Cat & Kittens
2005 sees the issue of another
wonderful coin, this time depicting the Himalayan Cat with it’s kittens.
Few breeds in the
history of the cat have both fired the imagination and captured the adulation of
cat lovers like the Himalayan. With its striking coat pattern borrowed from the
Siamese and its physical conformation matching the Persian, the Himalayan
combines the best qualities of both breeds in one exemplary feline.
Their nature generally is superb.
Laid back and easy going like their Persian forebears, but with a little 'dash'
of mischief from their Siamese ancestors.
