2000 $20 Sterling Silver Hologram Land, Sea & Rail Coins

BluenoseSchooner "The Bluenose" - (#624200)

Theme: Perhaps the most famous fishing schooner ever built, the Bluenose was launched in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia in 1921 to become the quintessential symbol of speed and grace on the open sea. She captured the International Fishermen’s Trophy during her inaugural year and did not surrender it for the duration of her 18 year racing career.

Design: The obvious elegance of the Bluenose is accentuated by a hologram cameo featuring an engineering schematic of her design.

Steambuggy"HS Taylor" Steam Buggy - (#624220)

Theme: In 1867, visitors to a fair in Stanstead, Québec dismissed it as a “mechanical curiousity,” but Henry Seth Taylor persevered and perfected his invention. He used his steam buggy regularly until it was damaged and stored away in the family barn. Rediscovered in 1960, the H.S. Taylor Steam Buggy is considered Canada’s first automobile.

Design: A horse-drawn carriage is clearly redesigned for steam propulsion. A hologram cameo featuring an engineering schematic enhances the design.

Toronto "The Toronto" Steam Engine - (#624210)

Theme: The first locomotive built in Canada, the Toronto was “steamed-up” for the first time in 1853. Capable of completing her 48.3 km (30 mi) route from Toronto to Machell’s Corners (today’s Aurora) in one hour, the Toronto was a remarkably fast train for that time. She was rebuilt after a serious collision in 1855 and remained in service until 1881.

Design: The stately presence of the Toronto comes to life. A hologram cameo featuring an engineering schematic enhances the design.
